Three decades of hands-on experience returning woodwind instruments to their former glory.
Sally has learnt her trade from various different and brilliant repairers. She continues to do repair work for many shops, schools and teachers, alongside her favourite kind of work — enthusiastic players, from complete beginners to touring professionals. Sally has also done a lot of work for flute bands in Northern Ireland.
Sally is very proud that her work comes mainly from recommendations, and it's a real testimony to the skill and passion she brings to repairing woodwind instruments. There is nothing more satisfying for Sally than returning an instrument to its former glory after it arrived in a terrible condition.
"Sally is without doubt an extremely competent individual. She has a wide knowledge of flutes, saxophones, clarinets and piccolos. Her work is of the highest standard and the most consistent I have come across. I would recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone considering sending instruments to her."
From an instrument that's simply been sat on, to a complete overhaul before a concert or exam — Sally's work covers everything from regulation and adjustment to full restoration, including re-soldering and straightening bent flutes.
Sally has been the on-site repairer at the biennial British Flute Society Convention since 2008, offering free flute check-overs and minor repairs to attendees during the event.
At the 2008 Flute Convention at the RNCM, Manchester, Sally carried out many on-the-spot repairs — including for William Bennett just before he went on stage.
...before an exam or concert, or someone has sat on it, or it just needs a complete overhaul — Sally is the one to contact.
